Ditch “dirty” cosmetics and switch to the best clean beauty products

Better than clean beauty: Synergie's Clean Science formulating combines the best of botanicals with the latest cosmeceutical science.

In today’s cluttered beauty market, an increasing number of consumers are becoming more conscious of exactly what they are putting on their bodies, as they become increasingly aware of the harmful effects of certain skin care and makeup ingredients. This move to clean beauty products may seem like a fairly recent one – but in fact, Synergie Skin, an indie beauty company based in Melbourne, Australia, has been preaching the need for clean beauty products for 15 years.

What is clean beauty skin care & makeup?

Clean beauty comprises only nontoxic cosmetics that are considered to be safe and effective, and encompasses both skin care and makeup products. In the past, there was less awareness of the potential harm that certain ingredients could cause (both in the short and long term), as well as a perception that the performance and shelf-life of products would be less if these ingredients were not included. Nowadays though, there’s a growing realization that – rather than paling in comparison to their ‘dirty’ competitors – clean beauty skin care and makeup is better for both your skin, your body, and the environment. However, most big beauty companies still use many ingredients that have questionable safety records, including preservatives, artificial colors and fragrances, foaming agents, lubricants, and penetration enhancers, to name a few. In contrast, we believe it’s possible to create high quality skin care and makeup that is also highly effective, providing the best in the market at competitive prices.

How to choose clean beauty products

Keep these factors in mind, before buying Clean Beauty Makeup and Skin Care:

Check the ingredients

It may seem like we’re stating the obvious here, but you should be aware of the ingredients used in your cosmetics and avoid those that have dubious safety data. There’s a long list of ingredients that clean beauty formulators and retailers suggest you look out for. While it’s evident that clean beauty is a spectrum, with the ‘dirty list’ varying according to where you look, we believe certain ingredients should be avoided altogether, because of the potential harm they can cause – either to you or the planet. You can find Synergie’s ‘dirty list’ here. Rest assured that Synergie products do not contain these ingredients.

Look for cruelty-free, environmentally friendly products

Clean beauty products shouldn’t just do you no harm – they should also not be tested on animals. Look for products that have the bouncing bunny logo, which means they are certified cruelty-free. Synergie is proud that its cruelty-free certification means that each of its individual ingredients has not been tested on animals.

You may not realize it, but some skin care and makeup ingredients may be harmful to the environment. For example, certain chemical sunscreens have been proven to damage coral reefs, and in fact have been banned in some places in the US (such as Hawai’i and parts of Florida). Tiny plastic microbeads in skin scrubs are washed down drains and end up in waterways and oceans, where they damage marine life; California and Illinois have banned products containing plastic microbeads. Thankfully, the best clean beauty products do not contain chemical sunscreens or plastic microbeads.

Support ethical companies

Synergie manufactures according to according to ISO 22176 and GMP standards. Its suppliers have full traceability on all the raw material used and in particular, mica (found in certain makeup products to provide shimmer, is sourced via ethical means).

Selecting products with non-toxic and recyclable packaging

Skin care and makeup is typically sold in plastic or glass containers. Try to support companies that use non-toxic plastics and encourage recycling. If you buy your products online, do your products arrive surrounded by bubble wrap, or are they wrapped in more environmentally friendly paper packaging?

Best clean beauty products for different skin issues

If you’re making the switch to clean beauty skin care, you want to be sure that the products are going to work for whatever is your particular skin issue. Look for a company like Synergie Skin that caters to lots of different skin concerns. We can help you choose products based on what your skin care needs are. Similarly, if you are looking for clean beauty makeup, you’re probably going to want more than just foundation. Synergie Minerals is a full clean beauty makeup line, with products for face, eyes, brows, and lips.

Take a look at just what Synergie can do for your skin; here at Skin Elegance we believe it offers the best clean beauty products and we hope you agree.
